Celebrations, Chani

Out in the Cold

I absolutely love everything about Christmas and celebrate it in all it’s glory, i revel in every magical thing about it except one and that is building a snowman. And the reason for that is, i live in a tropical country and there is a snow ball’s chance in hell of ever getting snow here, unless of course there is another ice age. So i am terribly envious of each and every one of you who do get the chance. Gah!

I don’t know what it is about them that fascinates me but ever since i was a kid and saw them on Christmas cards and movies one of my life long desires has been to make a snowman. I was listening to this jingle on my way to work and just couldn’t help smiling at it’s simple beauty.

“Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made of coal.

Frosty the Snowman, is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow, but the children know he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,

For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!”

Maybe it’s just me but i always found that there is something so warm and touching about their serene little smiles and mismatched outfits. They stand out all alone in the cold spreading warmth and happiness. It’s actually not hard to believe that they actually do come alive and dance the night away and do all the naughty crazy things the kids do.

It really is the simple things that touch our heartstrings, family, great food, making merry, renewing old friendships making new ones, celebrating the ups and down and just being together, that’s what this season is all about.

Thank you for being part of this blog and sharing your love with us. I wish you and your loved ones a ย merry Christmas and a very Happy 2014!

  2. Merry Christmas, everyone! And oh, this Christmas, I’m in Pakistan, and this Christmas, Toronto got hit with an ice storm … it’s been like a Winter Wonderland, 2-3 inches of ice on every branch of every tree. It really is a magical, beautiful, truly Christmasy Christmas! ๐Ÿ˜€
